R.F.I.---the continuing scourge of Ham radio, be it "traditional" horizontal oscillators of TVs going back to the 40's, or the raucous din of to-day's plasma televisions, exercise equipment, lighting systems, furnaces, electric fences, power line leakages, AD NAUSEAM. How have YOU handled cases where somebody's electric contraption seriously hampered YOUR on-the-air activities...?
[609 votes since 2014-07-31]
I confronted the guilty party immediately & directly, explained my circumstances, & offered my services as a tool to remedying the situation.
I don't like confrontation, so I contacted the FCC & let THEM handle the situation.
I operated under self-imposed "quiet hours", in order to be a good neighbour.
I simply hit the "noise reducer" button on my transceiver, & grimaced my way through it all.
I took the offending party to court, because they refused to co-operate with me.
I make it a point now to operate with my linear amplifier on at all times, & give THEM a dose of RFI!
I am very lucky in that I have never, ever experienced RFI to my operations.

    Shack Showcase N3JBH Shack
N3JBH Shack My main interest lies in 6 meterís and up. The shack contains yaesu FT -920 and the FT-847. Also T E Systems ampís for that occasion when qrp just wonít do it, both radioís have a full compliment of digital programs for the digital modes. Our cat controlled. And integrated fully with the computers. The microphone is audio technica and the boom was a recycled $10.00 lamp arm. What can I say itís cheap and it works great. I hope to work you all. 73 and God bless. Jeff N3JBH
