2 Ham Radio Emergency Communications (Katrina) News Stories (17 Sept):

Editor's Note: Due to the sheer volume of news stories relating to Ham Radio's role in emergency communications in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina I am placing all of the (daily) news stories on this topic into a single news story. I will be adding these multiple stories in each day as they come out. This will keep our News section of eHam from being a several pages long in just a few days, while still providing our readers with just as many ham-radio-related news stories on the subject as possible. As always, simply click the "LINK" below the titles to bring up the story in a new browser window.

2 Ham Radio Emergency Communications (Katrina) New

I heard that the President of the US was so pleased that Ham radio was the only communication platform that was fully functional during Katrin and that Ham radio operators were credited with saving almost a million lives single handed -- that he was going to allow all ham radio operators to not pay federal taxes this year and declaring MLK day now Ham radio day...

For once I would like to see someone in ham radio simply volunteer his time and service without feeling CNN ahould be there to cover it and to give him international praise...

ITS A HOBBY !!!!
