Looks like a good idea, I am sure many hams will like to take advantage of the space. I see a few pages aren't working yet (I would have thought those pages could have been active before launch, easy to put up the about.php and some of the others, but that is just me), and when filling out the form to submit a new site it might be nice to know which fields are the required fields, other than that it looks nice.

This could be very useful, especially since the former "standard" free webhosting service for amateur radio, qsl.net, seems to have been abandoned (the lights are on there, but no one appears to be at home).
Maybe you're already planning to do this, but I'd suggest adding a directory of the user sites you're hosting, so that people can visit qsl.nu and then just browse people's sites at random.

It's not sending the confirmation email containing the details for setting up the site for some reason.
Who knows mabey the server is experiencing technical difficulties at the moment.
Access using FrontPage would be nice.
I would like to use it as a Ham WX / APRS related site.
Thank you very much for providing this service for us. Much appreciated.

Hi Charles
You are registred correctly, for some reason (god knows why). Yahoo is not accepting the email when trying to deliver it. See below
Aug 15 01:12:00 ns postfix/smtp[2261]: CD6C97BC3C2: host c.mx.mail.yahoo.com[68.142.237.182] said: 451 Message temporarily deferred - [170] (in reply to end of DATA command)
Aug 15 01:12:01 ns postfix/smtp[2261]: CD6C97BC3C2: to=<kc8vwm@yahoo.com>, relay=f.mx.mail.yahoo.com[68.142.202.247]:25, delay=12, delays=11/0.01/1.5/0.34, dsn=4.0.0, status=deferred (host f.mx.mail.yahoo.com[68.142.202.247] said: 451 Message temporarily deferred - [170] (in reply to end of DATA command))
This means that they are not accepting the email for the time beeing. Our emailserver will try to deliver it for a while (several days). If not succesful it will "bounce". We have other hams with yahoo email so I donīt know what is wrong. If you provide me with another email adress I can send it there.
Regarding the FrontPage I will investigate what we can do. I can also recommend DreamWeaver from Macromedia which is a far more advanced and more modern piece of software.

Update
Charles,
After some "googleing" I found out the reason, yahoo enforces a very aggresive greylisting techinique. I have now managed to force deliver the mail (you might end up with 2 or 3 copies). I also tried your qrz.com listed email address.

Update 2
I have now installed "Frontpage Extensions" which should enable comapabillity with MS Frontpage. I have no Frontpage on my workstation so I cannot actually not test.
Can you please test and email me the results on info@qsl.nu

Ok, I got the email thanks.
It ended up in my spam folder though. I flagged it as "not spam" and this is supposed to alert Yahoo to place it on the "acceptable mail" list.
I will test Frontpage and let you know how that goes.
So far I have only tried a quick FTP upload of the site to the server.
Thanks.
My Best,
Charles - KC8VWM

That is being written just at the moment, but in short we will normally never disclosure any email or other information about (beside ur QSL.NU address). All information is just for our own use to be able to contact you when necessary. Also we probably need to disclosure your details if a court order us to, but that is pretty normal, donīt you think

Frontpage extensions not working.
I have placed at the very bottom end of my homepage (index.htm) a FrontPage server extension enabled on it as a test.
When the server on your end enables Microsoft SharePoint services on your server, the FrontPage extensions will be enabled and my webpage FrontPage extension will show up correctly and start functioning normally.
Hope that helps.

HI,
Sorry but the server is not Microsoft based, so no sharepoint services are availble. I have installed Frontpage Extensiions for Unix / Apache. I will try to see if there is any tests availble for that.

Well no matter. It's free web server space and it seems to work just fine. I have been just editing my site locally on my PC using FrontPage and then I upload it to the server using FTP.
I know, you are probobly still in the middle of working on a few new developments. Any proposed changes or news you can tell us about?
For example, will you be adding a website user directory so we can visit other users websites on QSL.nu?
It's just an idea to think about but you might want to consider advertising on eHam using a banner to promote the new server space for hams.
I bet they might even provide you a discount since the service you are offering is free for hams. I understand this site brings in around 750,000 visitors each month.
Just email them at:
adspacemaster@eHam.net
If you have a PayPal account setup, I can donate a little bit.
Good work!

Hi again Charles
I have checked the Frontpage issue futher. We will not use it due to the itīs obsolete and a very old program. MicroSoft is moving away from it in favour for "DAV" and will not relalse any updated FrontPage Extensions for Unix. Also it insecure anc can open backdoors on the server. I hope you can use FTP for upload instead.

I think he is referring to the fact that I didn't want my email address to be scanned by the spam robots on the internet so I "wrote it" in CW instead.
Some people are offended by anything and everything.
