Geezzz... and I thought surface mount was too small.

Pretty soon, if you drop your new radio on the carpet, you'll loose it!

It will only be a matter of time before Yaesu incorporates it into their new FT-9900MP-FIELD-XP-DXIII

...and it will need software updates to work properly too!

Here is the schematic diagram and parts list for a clone of it > . < look very close with at least 15,000 power magnification! An electron microscope would be handy in case you have one!
QRP anyone?

HaH! Actually carbon nanotubes pose little toxic danger. So, think of implanting your QRP transceiver in your forearm. Could runa full loop antenna around your body. Run it off thin film, flexible solar panels. Or...brain implantation? Think your way onto 40m?

Takes mobile operation to a new level.

This is a new situation? It cracked me up when I built my first 1N34A crystal radio... it easily fit inside of a 35mm slide box... but the antenna was 120 feet long!!! 40 years later, my IC-706 transceiver is on the order of size of a good set of headphones... oh yeah, the antenna is still 120 feet long!!! So tell me, if this new radio is so small that I can't see it, how am I going to hook it to the antenna???????

Isn't it something...that a code key on a block of wood takes up more space than a multi-band HT???

I wonder if the FCC will check my vision when I renew...

What happens if you sneeze and blow your radio into the next county? lol The only application I can see for something like this is some CIA spy tool so big brother can snoop on whoever they wish. Just what we need, more spy crap for an already too nosy government. Maybe someone could implant these things in politicians heads so someone can beam common sense to their brains....nah....lost cause.

Off topic, but worth time reading: Google; nano cars

What's the significance of this? Well, think about what happened to computing when engineers figured out how to go from building computer processors out of discrete components to putting the entire processor on a single integrated circuit - i.e. the invention of the microprocessor. It totally revolutionized computing. This could be equally revolutionary.

This will no doubt lead to a "radio non proliferation" treaty of some sort.

Dump a tube full of these in an air conditioning plenum and before you know it, they'd be floating from here to China.

Can you imagine billions of uncontrolled radiators out there? And, we think BPL is a scourge? Infinite noise levels just blew out the window........

Before this gets out of hand, they need to smash their I (for idiot) Pods and work on some productive nanotechnology.
