Well-said. When I was a teenager, I knew a ham like Mr. Groom. He was blinded in the Korean War. I forget how I met Mr. Franklin "Corky" Fleming, WA6DTQ, but, none the less, I learned a lot from him. Both he and his wife were visually impaired.
And, like Mr. Groom, he was an avid MARS member, recording and passing message traffic to and from people in the military in and around Vietnam.
Thank you, Mr. Groom, for the sacrifice for your country, and for all the years of service to it, from a grateful citizen.
