The correct link to the recall is:

What wonders me a bit is the fact, that it took 4 years for someone at Radio Shack to notice, that something is wrong with these supplies.

Was it someone at Radio Shack who noticed the problem, or a consumer who *alerted* Radio Shack that the PS had a problem?

I bought one of their 13.8 volt 25 amp? switching power supplies in 2007 and it produced a tremendous amount of hash. Of course I got a refund.

Me, too! I think it was made by Samlex(sp?).
I've just decided to stay away from switching supplies. I go with only regulated and Tripp-lite seems to have performance at a reasonable cost. I also use marine batteries with automatic chargers.
HOWEVER, I did find a VERY NICE Pyramid at Amazon to run an Icom IC-718 I once had. I couldn't complain about that supply at all.
Astron....hummers all! And I won't get matching power supplies that go with certain rigs because they're just too expensive. For the same price of an Icom or Yaesu supply, I could get a REAL NICE 30 volt regulated variable for the shack.
