He was a self-employed contractor and also a Security Enforcement Officer. Jack was an avid photographer and enjoyed woodworking. He made tables, benches, cupboards, picture frames and other items for Cedar Street Antiques and Countrypolitan. He would help anyone who needed anything built or repaired.

Surviving are his wife, Melody, of the home; two sons, Jack Richard “Ricky” Wood II, Fife, Washington, and Matthew Robert Wood, of the home; one granddaughter, Hayley Louise Wood, Fife, Washington; four brothers, Jim Burdick and wife Barbra, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Melvin Wood, Corcoran, California, Randy Wood, Eloy, Arizona, and Ronnie Wood and wife Shelly, Colorado Springs, Colo; one siser, Lisa Hartman and husband Cory, Pueblo, Colorado; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Stephen Haverlah officiating. Burial will be in the Abilene Cemetery with military and masonic honors.

The family will receive friends at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 N.W. Third, Abilene, Kansas, Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. where friends may call until time of service.

The family of Jack R. Wood suggests that friends may contribute to the Hospice of Dickinson County or the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in his memory. Contributions may be left at the funeral home.

Jack was the second to welcome me to the Abilene area and Fort Riley. He was always busy...but never too busy to lend a hand, give some advice, or just shoot the bull. I am sorry that I am so far away and cannot pay my respects until later.

May Peace be with you Jack, and the heavenly DX propagate your signal to a place that is full of like, kind souls.

73,

OBM
