The link is to a ham radio news reporting site--probably another link is there to get to the actual report, and that is the one that should have been noted. Waste of time.

I also find it irritating to have the headliner 2 & 3 links deep.

Well, Chris, perhaps you need to heed you own advice and R E A D. See, as you say, this IS THE problem, you just don't read. Why is it that 99% of anything you post is criticizing someone for something. Is life that bad? Even your bio is criticizing eHam but you come here and post. If the site, the members, and staff bothers you so much why do you even visit? Move along; Find another place to hang out and with people more to your liking. In the mean time, take a chill-pill.

Now.... About the news link and for everyone else.

You simply click on "Listen To This Week's RAIN Report" and just like magic your player will open and sound will come from your computer speakers.

The reason there is no link to the actual file is because it changes weekly. (From your post, I gather you have no idea what the RAIN report is) The actual
link is: http://www.therainreport.com/rainreport.m3u

The contents will change is a few days for the next RAIN report.

C r a i g

Again to get to the file simply copy and paste:

K1CJS...your own profile says:

"The way this site has 'declined' in the last few years is one reason I won't come here much anymore."

For someone who isn't going to come here much, I sure do see a lot of negative posts from you. Do as you say...go somewhere else.

Nice link,I added that to my ham bookmarks. I enjoyed the podcast and hope to catch some more. Its a podcast, you click on the 'Listen to the Rain Report' button and away you go! Its not unlike listening to 'Long Delayed Echos' or 'SolderSmoke'. Fun Stuff

A transcript would be much appreciated. I can skim it for what interests me without having to pay attention to a spoken presentation for upwards of 15 minutes.

Like all the other news articles on this site, they all direct you to a link then off the site. If I wanted to go off the site to see an artcile, why would I bother coming to e-Ham? Definately a waste of time.

Thanks for taking the time to post the link for those of us interested in APRS. No problem figuring it out(and no need for a transcript<g>)...very worthy.

It's October 10th, and my bet is the audio has already been changed. I don't think I want to listen to 15 minutes of audio to find out if APRS is even mentioned. This is why a direct link that does not change is very important when posting news here. -KR4WM

I went to the root website and apparently there is no link for "last week's news" or other older files. I did, however, click on the "FCC enforcement log" and was dismayed that it has not been updated since March, 2008. I also noticed that they "copyrighted" a voice recording from an FCC official of what is essentially information from the FCC that is public domain. At least, the last time I checked, the FCC is a taxpayer-funded public entity... hard to believe the FCC would allow RAIN to obtain a copyright on anything a public FCC employee dictated over the phone. -KR4WM

Finding the right report isn't that hard guys! Without any prior knowledge I found it without problem. Click on the link, then select the RAIN Report Archive. You should see the link for the 10-3-08 report which lists Bob Bruninga.

But the key point is, just what is it that APRS actually does? What's the point? The graphics are worse than an old Pac Man console and who cares if you know where this station or that station is located? What is that all about? Can you say.....waste of time and resources??!?
