Sounds like the most plausible explanation yet. This is very good news. Can't wait.

"...a jet stream deep inside the sun is migrating slower than usual through the star's interior, giving rise to the current lack of sunspots".
And its all Barack Obama's fault!
This disruption ofthe solar jet stream is due to carbon emissions here on earth. If only Obama would stop taking Air Force 1 on dates, the solar jet stream would return to normal. This has already been decided. There is no longer any room for debate.

I am very happy to hear this. This certainly gives us hope for better conditions. But like Yogi Berra always says: "I'll Believe It, When I Believe It."

Come on, sunspots. We probably couldn't be so lucky, but maybe the cycle will be slow receding, too.

So where were all these smarty-pants seismic sun mappers the last two years while all the hams were tossing and turning at night about the minimum? Maybe next minimum the ARRL should hire those guys straight away to keep tabs on things and keep the ham community posted.

As K7RA wrote:
"If you dig through the technical literature, you'll discover that there are more than 50 predictions for Cycle 24. They range from a low smoothed sunspot number of 40 to a high of 185. Why are there so many predictions? That's a simple question to answer - solar scientists do not fully understand the process that generates sunspots, and thus many different methods have been used to make a prediction".
Solar sunspot or global warming predictions - same difference. Neither group really has a full understanding.

No, No! You are wrong! It is George Bush's fault and the remainder of us right wingers! Worse than that -- we right wingers are even causing global cooling just to sabotage the good works of the green croud. Oh, my. I am so ashamed...I will try to do better...

Actually, its all Dick Cheny's fault.
He wants global cooling to increase the demand and price of oil for Halliburton. He is using the same secret millitary weapon (that he used to steer hurricaine Katrina to New Orleans) to cool the planet.
