Today a new solar cycle 24 sunspot group emerged in the SW quadrant of the Sun
near S22E41. Later today NOAA/SWPC should assign it #11023, with a beta magnetic
signature.
We have seen four solar cycle 24 sunspot groups this month and six in the past
30 days. It appears that solar cycle 24 has finally come alive.

If you missed it, there was an interesting June 17th release that discussed the sun's "Jet Stream" and how it has impacted the delay in cycle 24.

Definitely worth a read.

I had faith in the good ol' sun. Bring it on. I'm ready to have fun from the home installation and the mobile also.

I had a moment where I read the title as "New Solar Cycle 24 Support Group"
"Hi, my name is Dan, and I've been reduced to operating 160m and Sporadic E."

software is called cq100, used on qsonet. Lots of hams with computers qso'ing! Also linking repeaters to the keyboard! Nice FM type audio on every channel. Good for us old guys with poor hearing! Glad to hear the sunspots are back as that little ice age might be delayed some. Now what will Livingston and Penn say about no sunspots after 2012?
