Since yesterday morning (tuesday) we have been having some site performance issues. We are working on them and hope to have things back to normal as soon as possible. Our work will require taking the site offline at least one more time in the next 24 hours as we work to resolve our hardware issues.
Yesterday (Tuesday 22-Sept-2009) the data center that hosts the eHam.net servers suffered a major power event. The power went down for the entire data center due to some sort of failure in their UPS system.
This power event has affected one of our raid storage arrays and is causing our site to be sluggish during normal high loads.
We appreciate your patience.
Thank you,
George Fremin III
and
The eHam.net team

I have noticed at 12:00 midnight here in California the eHam.net server seems to be down for a few minutes... are things being updated at that time?
This is a great service to amateur radio... thanks.

I've been I.S. professionally since 1966. I am therefore quite aware of the challenges you face. Good luck and thanks for all the up time that you have provided over the years :)

We had a flaky RAID controller which has now been replaced. The down time should be gone for now. Thanks for your patience.

We need to do a series of disk drive replacements later this evening. Expect more down time. Our apologies.

This just reminded me that it takes real money to run this site which I enjoy so much - so I renewed my subscription.

Not an employee, just a very satisfied user.
Thanks eHam!

All problem drives have been replaced and the disk array is back to 100% integrity. Sorry for the intermittent downtime.

Our behind-the-scenes guys were pretty well prepared for this considering it turned out to be an ugly problem.
Hopefully they nailed it!

Thanks Guys, great job. Probably my imagination, but the site seems faster now.It might be the 'It was worked on so it must perform better now' syndrome. My antennas, rigs, computers and devices all suffer from this,,:) 73 es GL-KG4TKC

Thanks for keeping us informed, and for making us realize the "behind the scenes" efforts required to keep eHam running.
I will renew.
