No, and won't for some time to come... :)
->None of these events signal any type of dramatic uptrend in solar activity<-

Thanks Craig! Since you posted, spaceweather.com has updated their site:
"The sunspot's magnetic polarity identifies it as a member of new Solar Cycle 24. If its growth continues apace, sunspot 1029 could soon become the biggest sunspot of 2009."
You are a sunspot good luck charm! :)

The way 15 meters was open during CQWW SSB this weekend into Europe and Russia in the morning is surely a welcome sign.
Even 10 meters was open to Latin America for a change.

I actually noticed this a couple weeks ago... I think even a little flux was enough.
Big contest really reminds us that the band is open! But a couple weeks ago I was trying to work FT5GA on 15CW the other morning and failing that, tuned around a bit and 4O3A was just booming in... and I don't have much antenna...

Yep, and it's open more than people think. Too many folks think "oh, there's no spots, I'm not turning on my rig" when, in fact, they could make contacts. I too made contact with 4O3A back during the WAE contest a month or two back -- and I'm only using a IC-706MKIIG and a portable HF antenna that's 8.5' high!

It certainly seemed past summer, tune around the band, the band is dead, then call CQ around 21.300 and get a mini "pileup", stateside though. Guess everyone thinks the band is dead and why bother trying. That was likely sporadic E in the summer.
What I heard last weekend was definitely good solid F2.
