It is official. The USS Indianapolis Radio Room is open. After a year of work and lots of volunteers working many hours, we have made a room dedicated to USN WWII Radiomen. This started Nov. 28 2008 and was open Nov. 6 2009 this was put together with many volunteers and the Indy radio group. We wish to thank all who helped to make this project work and all who may have donated. Please flee free to visit Wednesday through Sunday 9-5 and again thanks from a former Navy person USS Wasp CVS-18.

Thanks Robert Tevault

Nice job building a restoration of the Radio Room of this ill fated ship sunk at the very end of WWII. Please post the actual address as many people don't know where the exhibit is located. I hope to visit it when I visit the town of Indianapolis in the future. A link to Google Earth on the web page would be handy for people to "see" the Memorial Building and get a feel of the area. There are some nice photos taken on the ground poster there too. My dad was a WWII radio man and taught Crypto in Vallejo, Ca right after the war. He had served as a Navy Radio Man.

Glad to see the Radio equipment and station set up for the first time in your photos. Hope to operate there some day... when visiting Dayton next Hamvention in May I could drive over for a nice visit. Hope to see the exhibit then.

my 87 year old mother inlaw had a cousin that was lost when the Indianapolis was lost. When the entire story came out she said the whole family was devestated.I'll be sure and share this information with here.I'm sure she'll appreciate this memorial.Thank you for this special effort to honor these veterans.

My wife and I made our first visit to the War Memorial in Indy just last April while in town for an Associated Press banquet.

I was amazed at the amount of memorabilia contained there. We only had an hour to spend there and could easily spend much more time.

We went through the USS Indianapolis exhibit, but I had no idea that this Radio Room project was in the works.

If you are ever in Indy be sure to check it out. It's probably one of the city's best kept secrets.

I can't wait to go back and see the Radio Room exhibit.

73,
W9THD
