An interesting and substantive piece of journalism.

Far better than the USA ham radio emcomm buffoon propaganda pieces that run so often here.

Thank-you Thomas Völkner and Radio World.

Interesting, although the reporter seems to confuse FM and "normal" shortwave AM usage.

Good point Bill. To be sure, many radio articles have technical vagueness that indicates either a lack of understanding by the reporter or an inability to properly convey technical information in a general interest piece.

Still the piece was far better than most of the pablum and drivel that is written about Ham radio and posted here.

Having been part of the now defunct Shortwave Listeners' Net that used to meet on 7240 Sundays, there always has been a low power presence on shortwave. A majority is contained under the heading of "pirate radio" here in the US, yet pirates are not really hunted in Europe. They are instead promoted & gain wide popularity.
