Dave was a member of the Valley Amateur Radio Association since its inception, rarely missed a meeting and was the current Secretary and for a long time, the Repeater Trustee.
He and Jon N1BDF did a great deal of the technical work on the repeaters. Just recently, Dave was a major contributor in drafting the revised set of club bylaws. Dave always appreciated anything anyone did for him and valued the quality speakers brought to the club. Not long ago, he and N1BDF did a very informative presentation on digital communications; lots of fun for sure.
He would often go for coffee with other clubmembers on Tuesdays after he ran the weekly VARA Net. Dave ran that net for many, many years. He also participated for years with VARA in providing communications for the Shelton-Derby Memorial Day Parade
Dave was a real team player who always got along with everyone. When he saw that something needed to be done and he knew how to do it, he just quietly did the job never seeking recognition.
Dave loved learning. This past year, for example, he learned a lot about HF digital modes and spent quite a bit of time experimenting with various software.
I will always remember the night we hung out on the couch just talking together and playing with his beloved dog Pookie at the VARA Field Day.
Dave KD1BD is missed by all who knew him. He truly was a special person, who's presence among us was a gift and an inspiration.
Although we are very saddened by his death, we find comfort knowing he rests eternally in peace in the presence of the Lord.

I echo your sentiments. Dave was a true ham and very loyal. I will miss the rides he gave me to the club meetings and most importantly, the conversations we had. 73
