One word stood out in that morass: COULD!

If you want a different read on the way the solar activity is shaping up, read this article--further down the 'NEWS' list on this site:

Clearly, what must be done is to have politicians outlaw the Sun. We must have them involved in this latest 'crisis': "Solar Warming"!!!

When the sun is outlawed, only outlaws will have Sun.

(Har-Har!)

It's always about the fear. So much of the media spends millions trying to scare us. "Be afraid, be very afraid."
"Might..., Could..., Maybe..., experts predict..., should..., if so then..., continuing as we are..., and on and on. Earthquakes, forest fires, volcanoes, riots, disease, nuclear attack, dirty bombs, terrorists, co2, plane, train, automobile crashes, failing bridges, and on and on insert your own favorite.

Little chicken?

Actually it already has occured. Some where near the late 1800s, a solar max event did occure and from witnessed reports, the power absorption from the cw stations was so great, that some of them caught fire. I think its possible to happen and will send us back to the pre electronics age.

Time to go play football with the kids..nothing on tv to watch :)

Yes there is a possibility. But of course this kind of sensational "reporting" is what sells.

In any case, disconnect radios and equipment from AC power lines and antennas. Then it would have to be really massive to destroy the equipment. Of course probably most commercial equipment won't be disconnected. But a lot of ham radio gear will be. "When all else fails" might actually become a reality especially if hams dig out their old tube radios...

This media junk is why people have to make the effort to think and to read critically.

Discrimination is a good thing most of the time.

Learn to discriminate between what sounds right and what is right.

Be skeptical. How much do media writers really know for a fact? - very little!

Earth 前n Alert': more media rabble rousing

I have to agree with the general sentiment. This is just another example of the fear mongering that has taken the place of actual news and science. It seems like a campaign of shock and awe to sell more advertising, push agendas and scare people into submission.

I've been to film and video production school, I know precisely how this propaganda is generated, and that is the single best thing I got from those programs. Along with knowledge of making video of course.

Not NOAA nor any other weather source can even get the forecast right 2-3 days in advance in Phoenix, which has quite possibly the most predictable boring weather patterns in the US.

"General scientific consensus is that the coming "solar maximum" could arrive in 2012 or 2013"

Now we have chicken little saying it could be the worse but then read other articles saying it is going to be a dud cycle. (http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2009/29may_noaaprediction/) This came from NASA. Must be politicans, because no matter what happens they can say I told you so.

All I know is the last couple of days the conditions for me have been terrible.

KA0SBL - The reason they can no longer forecast the weather even 24 hours in advance is because of chemtrails and stratospheric aerosol geo-engineering.
