don't know where else to say this, but I disagree with his extension cord reel setup. I have personally overheated a long cord by using it while much of the cord was still rolled up on the reel. It didn't completely melt but I don't trust it anymore. Now I unroll them all the way out.

Anybody else had this problem? If the cord is heating up, and it's coiled, I can see that being amplified by the coil. Should that happen below the rated current limit?

you should always unwrap any cord before using it. yes they overheat.
