"They said a radio aerial proposed by a neighbour would be an eyesore, create wind noise and devalue their properties."
Here we find the same old tune. Someone buys a piece of property, and suddenly the entire surrounding environment becomes a threat to their subjective idea of what constitutes the value and beauty of their purchase. They refuse to accept that their control ends at their property line. What is an "eyesore" to one becomes a valuable and enjoyable asset to another. "Create wind noise" - in their egotistical madness they would control the winds, too!
Finally we come to the most dreaded threat - devalue their properties. The control of the land you own ends at your property line. Anything and everything can come along beyond your line.
What they do with their property is up to them. What the other guy does with his property should be up to him. What is sauce for the goose should also be sauce for the gander. Sorry! Look what I've done: I started off with swans and ended up with geese. I wonder, would swans enhance my property value, while common geese devalue it? In my opinion their case is for the birds.

This is a tough one that I'm on the fence about. Here's the metaphor I use:
A mountain man 150 years ago living in his cabin with the nearest neighbor 10 miles away can do what he wants. He can shoot deer from the front porch, go to the bathroom off the back porch and anything else that suits him. BUT, he had to dig his own well for water, provide his own defence from wild animals, Indians and bad guys. Friends and help are a long way off.
He then moves into the fort. He is safe, has water and friends and help. However, he gave up some freedoms when he moved from isolation into a crowded environment. He can't have it both ways.

I wonder what the "Annoyees" are doing that aggravate the other neighbors? No matter who you are, you're probably doing something that annoys your neighbor. That's just how it is. Different strokes for different folks. I wonder if these people have barking dogs, junk around the house, or security lights that shine 24 hours a day into the other neighbor's windows? The list goes on.
These "Annoyees" must have never been taught that people who live in glass houses should not throw stones...
The 1st commenter is exactly right. Their control stops at the property line. This lack of control is the root cause of the squabble.
