This should not be a surprise to anyone who has spent much time on the air over the past two years. Even the down slope of Solar Cycle 23 was far better than the conditions of #24. Still, there is hope.

As they say in the world of investment, "Past performance is no guarantee of future results."

Just get on the air and call CQ.

This sunspot cycle has some very unusual phenomena.

Many of the classic short paths on the higher bands have reversed and gone to long path propagation. On many occasions the short is dead and yet the long path is open. This is despite the impossibility of long path conditions. This has been occurring regularly on 10,12 and 15 meters.

Just get on the air spin the beam every possible way and call CQ rather than sitting there on the internet and listening!

So why is that, do you think? I got rid of most all of my HF gear. It was junk, anyway. John
