Pat was an amazing guy, working with clandestine radio supporting resistance units in WW2, but best known for his work with the RSGB conducting the Technical Topics column in their magazine. That column, a bit like QST's 'Hinks and Kinks' on steroids, typically covered a new or interesting tidbit in a few paragraphs, and sometimes a diagram. Others would have milked it out into a long article, but G3VA was able to distill the necessary information and tell the reader just what he needed to know.
There are about four of the compendium books, taking the TT column from beginning to end, from RSGB, available in the States as well, reasonably priced for all they contain. They have a prominent place in my bedside reading stack. Pat retired from the column a few years ago, and nobody has come close to replacing him!

I met Pat many many years ago, when I was at radio College my digs were just across the road from his QTH, a true gentleman, always enjoyed his articles.
