Hamvention 2013 Award Winners

Amateur of The Year - Mustapha Landoulsi DL1BDF

Mustapha has been instrumental in promoting amateur radio all over the world. He is currently a pilot for Lufthansa Airlines. He is fluent in Arabic, French, German, and English. Among his many accomplishments he established six amateur radio stations in Tunisia and continues to help re-establish them after the Arab Spring. He has organized delivery of emergency medical equipment and medicine to African countries. He led a project to save a Costal Radio Station in North Germany. He works tirelessly to bring amateurs together in the middle east and Africa and many other parts of the world. He has won many awards for his numerous contributions throughout the world.

Technical Excellence Award
Dave Whitten KD0EAG and David Rowe VK5DGR for their FreeDV program that encodes high quality HF Digital Voice in 1.125 khz, less than ½ the bandwith of an SSB QSO.

Special Achievement Award
George Thomas W5JDX for his work on Ham Nation and Amateur logic TV. His contribution is applauded by hams worldwide and his videos are both entertaining and interesting.
