This a very interesting article and shoud be read by others it shows how important radio can be as a tool to keep contact with the outside world.

Never worked him, but recall listening to him often on my Hallicrafters S-118 during the 1960's and 70's working others . . . quite a conversationalist, with a booming signal late nights on AM, as I remember. Rest in peace, VP6 Tom Christian.

Great and sad article about a very interesting man and his fascinating life. It would have been a privilege and honor to work him. I've only been licensed 5 years, age 62, and always a thrill to work the "rare one", hopefully someone will mount a DXpedition there in his honor.
