What RS needs to understand is the idea that you can't retain a desired customer base, by flip flopping marketing strategies every couple of months.

Running a business and getting loyal customers isn't like openeing a package and making "instant mashed potatoes."

They want to be the leader in this industry, but yet they are unwilling to stick it out for the duration to get there. ??

It's a great strategy to confuse customers. It will often drive customers away to shop at your competitors too.

Yet they can't figure out why, and I quote....:

" The retailerís sales have declined as it lost customers to Best Buy Co. and Amazon.com Inc. and a stockpile of unwanted inventory forced it to sell merchandise at steep discounts."

...Duh! No math required.

It's plain and simple. Radio Shack lost sight of what they were and used to be. They tried to re-invent themselves way too many times. They've gone through CEOs too fast. They went from an electronics store to a toy store, back to a poorly stocked/product deficient electronics store to an electronics accessory store to a cell phone store.

They simply don't know what they want to do, and this so called 'remodeling' is probably just going to put a new face on the cell phone business they've stuck themselves at now.

Radio Shack will just continue to limp along, making a little money--then losing it again.

If they really wanted to do something constructive, they would resurrect the 'Realistic' brand name and start making the electronics goods they were known for years ago.

After reading the article I think Radio Shack will someday fold up and go qrt. Just about everything in that store is overpriced. The parts dept is nothing to look at, and the people working there dont know what end of a hot soldering pencil to grab.
