Yea..Right..unattractive right up to the point when your normal communications go down. Then there not so ugly. Are they?

Telling people that the "ugly antenna" will look beautiful when communications fail is like telling them that the crappy old boat in your driveway will look beautiful in a flood. Hams that put towers in restricted areas give the public the idea that this is what a ham antenna looks like if they are permitted. It only makes things harder for ops that want a little wire or vertical that most would never notice.
