I've released 0.9.5 which has posted on CPAN.  This is the first of the Beta Releases for the FT817COMM perl module which impliments most every function of the FT817 Ham radio. This is an OOP library written entirely in Perl.
I need people in the community to test the software and report back any bugs they find. when started, the program will only execute official yaesu cat commands unless the command write enable is given.
One thing I need is for everyone to type into FT817OS (without quotes) 'get config' and let me know in an email at

[FT817]@/dev/ttyUSB0/:$ get config

Hardware Jumpers created value of

0x04 11001110 ce
0x05 10111111 bf

1. what the two values are In this case ce and bf
2. what country you are in
3. If you have modified the jumpers or wide banded the radio i.e. MARS / 60M etc.

The link to the module on CPAN is

Testing has now been done on both the older and newer version radios.  With this release I will also be releasing FT817OS which is a command line FT817 Operating System with a Unix Bash flair to it. Only 10330 Lines of code to implement the full functionality of the Radio.

FT817OS Beta v.9 has been released. This is the closest thing to SSHing or Telneting into the radio. Linux folks should be familiar with the command line directory style layout. It requires Perl 5.14 or greater and FT817COMM 0.9.5 or greater to function.  If you've got Perl installed and you've added FT817COMM via CPAN or some other means, installation of FT817OS is quite simple.
