Why Our Sun's Solar Maximum Is One of the Weakest In Modern

Great article. I remember in the late 1940's scientists were claiming we were near the beginning of another minor ice age, similar to the ones in the 1400's and 1800's. This can be verified by reviewing news reports from that time period.

A few years ago a student writing her master's thesis made some so called adjustments to her data and predicted massive global warming. Some people saw an opportunity to make tens or hundreds of millions of dollars by hyping global fear of overheating.

We conveniently overlooked two factors: first all of the planets in our solar system were experiencing the same warming, and second before every ice age either major or minor, the sun cycles through a short period of extra activity before going very quite.

It seems the scientists of the 1940's were right in that we may well experience a mild period of inconvenient cooling, even a minor ice age.

Since usually our time horizons for predicting outcomes takes such a short term view it is inevitable that errors in judgement will occur.
