This Man Drives a Modified Subaru in the Arctic to Make Ham

Kind of a disappointing article. The title states this person drives a modified Subaru in the Arctic but in the article the author states the vehicle ISN'T modified except for a block heater...which isn't really a modification so much as it is an addition. I was also hoping to read about this person's radio equipment and see photos of the setup. Sadly - no. The article simply states this guy drives to out of the way locations and that's about it.

Agree with K7CB. BIG stretch to call this an article about ham radio. More of an article that gives an honorable mention to ham radio but smells more like a product placement for Subaru.

What I found more interesting was the last name of the person featured in the article, "Zeifman". A unique name for sure, and one that appears to correlate to four different call signs supporting seven separate QRZ.com profiles, all for the same person.

NJ7H Profiles
- NJ7H ... https://www.qrz.com/db/nj7h [Oklahoma City]
- NJ7H/HR9 ... https://www.qrz.com/db/nj7h/hr9 [Honduras]
- TG7/NJ7H ... https://www.qrz.com/db/tg7/nj7h [Guatemala]
- FP/NJ7H ... https://www.qrz.com/db/fp/nj7h [St. Pierre & Miquelon]

Other Profiles
- C6AGZ ... https://www.qrz.com/db/c6agz [Bahamas]
- V31NJ ... https://www.qrz.com/db/v31nj [Belize]
- VE6NJH ... https://www.qrz.com/db/ve6njh [Canada]

Maybe there is a REAL ham radio article hiding within these call signs and profiles somewhere. Oh...the Subaru gets an honorable mention in the form of photos on a couple of his call sign profile pages.

Now, back to my morning coffee.

Let me save everyone some time.

"vehicle of choice for this arduous task is his Subaru XV Crosstrek.

' Surprisingly, the car has no modifications for the harsh environment of the Arctic besides an engine block heater, which he has never used.'"

This statement here makes this article about as related as our current political climate.

Just make a statement. No matter that it is in direct contradiction to the actual article.

This never should have made it past any type of editorial review. The title and first paragraph directly disagree with each other.
