The Night Before Christmas KH6 Style!

'Twas the night before Christmas, working forty meters with ease, I was the only creature stirring, driving my 3-500Z's; The pile up was roaring, and the amp warmed the room, Those rowdy DX'ers, in my log hoped to be soon.

Like the children and my wife, I should be in my bed, Having visions of kilowatts dancing in my head; Rather than settle down for a long winter's nap, I was working DX, putting Hawaii on the map.

When outside my headphones there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, And just as I looked up, I heard a loud crash.

The moon light on the palm leaves looked normal enough, But all over the ground were presents and other Christmas stuff. Looking up, what to my wondering eyes should appear, Hanging from my Yagi, a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I muttered to myself, "Could this be St. Nick?" A tiny computer, with lights still blinking and flashing, Had guided his sleigh to this horrible smashing.

"Now, Dasher!" he yelled, "Now, Prancer and Vixen!" "On, Comet! On Cupid! On Donder and Blitzen!" Down they all came! With a mighty fall! To the top of my roof, sleigh and all!

I realized the tiny computer had helped him to fly, That's why they met with an obstacle, up in the sky. RF from my amp, caused the course that they flew, With the sleigh full of radios, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, down from the roof, and to the ground, I heard prancing and pawing outside, all around. I suddenly remembered, and I turned around, There are no chimneys in Hawaii, for St. Nicholas to come down.

He knocked at the door, dressed in fur from his head to his foot, And his clothes were not tarnished with ashes or soot; He carried a bundle full of radios, toys he had not, Opening his pack, he exclaimed, "Wow, it's hot!"

His eyes -- how they glared! His disposition was not Merry! His face was red like roses...no, like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn down like a bow, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow; ( on Mauna Kea )

The stump of his pipe he held in his teeth like a clamp, And the smoke was like I once saw when I blew up my amp. He exclaimed that here in Hawaii, while it is sunny, The way he arrived, he didn't think it was funny.

He gazed into my shack, a right grouchy old elf, And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself; He said,"I've come this far,and at least I'm not dead, Please, next year hold down the power, so I'll have nothing to dread!"

He complained of his computer, but went straight to work, And filled all the stockings, mumbling something like,"Stupid Twerp..." And laying a radio under the tree I read the front panel, it said, "QRP."

He sprang out the door, and went straight to his sleigh, Gave a whistle to the reindeer, and they all flew away. But I heard him exclaim, as he dropped the tiny computer over the side, "Thanks to KH6KM, we're on manual override!"

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Good timing I must say, and hopefully next year on Christmas day, Said Nick will drop by with less RFI, cause it seems from your post your not a bad guy. May your Christmas be merry and contacts abound, your logbook be full, with many new towns. And just to be careful not to offend, Best wishes to all and this is the end...

eHAM: please add the initial posting date on all re-posted articles.

I assume you are re-posting due to relevance of the season AND eHAM users are not submitting articles.

Wonder why HAMs are not submitting - look at eHAM's comment policy and the hijacking of articles in the comments area. ehAM allows the ignorant to eviscerate an author just because they can here.

But any change to your open policy could impact your advertising site hit counter. But it might also gain hits when users see reasonable relevant 'comments'.

Look how many 'oldie but goodie' re-posts are on the site today - why?

To clarify, this is not a re-post. I wrote this almost 20 years ago but it has never been posted on this site or any other as far as I know. Merry Christmas!

Is that just your view of what is relevant/ reasonable or are you claiming it as fact - it is my view that you are not the arbiter of truth/fact.

It is also my view that it is quite funny (but very typical) how blind to ignorance, reasonableness and relevance accusers suddenly become when evaluating those on their side of the argument - seems so long as you are on the "right" side of the argument that you may even be some kind of protected species beyond evaluation/question.

Trying to have those you don't like or whose views you don't like shut down is the tactics often used by rather dubious authoritarian states.

The USA should be pleased/proud they have their First Amendment yet some seem intent on eroding or eliminating it, most noticeably when it doesn't suite their view/agenda.

Be careful - it is often the case that people do not appreciate what they have till it's gone.

LOL ! Fun piece to read on this Christmas Day in Hawaii:)
However believe it or not there are many chimneys in the State of Hawaii but they are not big enough for Santa :)
