They say that inspiration strikes at times in our dreams. On the advent of the historic 60-meter opening, inspiration struck me today but, I was on the dumper!
I was reading some ham commentary on eHam:
"Considering that the 5-MHz spectrum belongs to the Feds and that there's a war on, I'm pleasantly surprised that they're letting us play in their sandbox at all"... ...then I fell asleep...zzz
Then I had a dream, it was all so real.
There was a very noisy Tom Ridge on my Channel 1...he was calling for somebody urgently, and they were calling him, he could not copy them (50 watt ERP rule) I think it was storming or something...anyway...I said..hum..hum..Is This Director Ridge??? and he says sternly, who is this??? I said...sir this is Brian K8LQ do you copy....he said yes barely....I turned up my power dial to 100W pep and switched to the loop (this was important) I said...sir CAN YOU HERE ME NOW??? He says yes, much better...I said can I relay for you...he said yes, you may pass some traffic, which I did...
...no....I can't tell you cause it was classified!
Tom Ridge told me after that I should be receiving some kind of an award soon, he wanted to know what kind of rig and antenna I was running to put in such a fine signal, I told him that I could show him at the Whitehouse sometime and that perhaps they could use my ideas for better communications. He said splendid!!! ...I was going to hire a Homeland Security Radio Officer Director and I think I just found him!
WOW!!! I'm already thinking in terms of higher power, better antennas, more channels and emission types. I could revolutionize the War on Terror!
man...what a dream! I pulled myself from the floor, cleaned up and went in to the ole salt mine.
Damn, I hope this happens to me...
