Top This Father's Day Gift!

I received this letter from an eHam.net member. I doubt many will top this Father's Day gift...

Bill,

hi- a couple of quick questions if you don't mind. I am planning on taking the technician exam as a father's day present to my Dad, K5BTV, who has been a ham-fanatic all his life and has dreamed of me becoming a ham for 30 years now! I think he's going to pass out when I tell him I got my license.

First question-if i am passing the Eham exam every time, is it reasonable to assume I'll pass the real one?

Two-do you know of a site in Alpharetta or Cumming where I can take the test maybe this weekend? We have a newborn and it would be a pain to get to the Marietta site, altho for dear ol' Dad, I'll make the trip. My husband is also taking the test, too.

Thanks- Ginger Arias

I hope Ginger sticks with it long enough to find out who is really getting the gift.

Ginger,

I hope all went well with your testing. I am a relatively new ham also, and I live in Canton, GA. Email me and let me know how it went. I am looking forward to an on air QSO soon!

I passed the exam and Dad is quite proud. I promise to stick with it - I have no choice, really! Dad already sent me a rig a few years ago -thinking if I had to dust it, I'd get interested in it. Now he is sending me a newer model and already pestering me about getting my code exam done. Geez, hammies are more persistent than those guys in "The Firm."
Well, 73's and I'll post my call sign as soon as I get it. My Dad is K5BTV if you ever hear him calling CQ...

Well, what a nice surprise that Ginger got her license! Now make an all ham family since XYL got hers a month ago - KD5JYW.

Thanks Ginger for the specail present from you and Mitcha and I hope you enjoy the hobby as much as I have. You guys are really special.

Also thanks to others for their support and encouragement for Ginger.

73, Dad

Ginger;

Congratulations! I hope to catch any/all of you on the air one day. Hopefully, during a 6 meter opening! BTW, how'd your husband do? Did he pass as well? 73 and God Bless!
