Here may be quite a “find” for anyone who is a serious audiophile and enjoys reel-to-reel tape recording.
I used to be in broadcasting and nearly all of these tapes were involved in some way with radio stations for which I worked. As a result, the tape is of good quality...lots of Ampex, Scotch, Memorex etc. Most of the tapes still have program materials on them, airchecks from the 1960s and 70s and so on. Recently I dubbed every tape onto other media (no...it wasn’t digital) and found only one tape out of this whole batch that was bad, so it was discarded. You will not find tapes that are shedding silicone or acetate or are covered with mold. Not all of the tapes are full of tape...some have lesser amounts due to programming protocols of the stations at that time. However, most are full. All the tapes have been kept in a sealed plastic container with lots of silica gel to keep moisture out.
Included in this lot is the following:
123 7 1/2-inch reels (Boxed)
8 7 ½-inch reels (without box)
36 5-inch reels (Boxed)
24 5-inch reels (without box)
2 4-inch reels (Boxed)
3 4-inch reels (without box)
5 3-inch reels (Boxed)
7 3-inch reels (without box)
1 7 ½-inch reel leader tape (90% full)
1 5-inch reel leader tape (50% full)
1 3-inch reel leader tape (95% full)
7 7 ½-inch take-up reels
2 7 ½-inch take-up reels (self-thread)
2 5-inch take-up empty reels
1 4-inch take-up empty reel
9 3-inch take-up empty reel
By the way, yes...that is not a misprint about the "3-inch" reels. We did interviews and “man on the street” type things which called for a small portable tape recorder and 3-inch reels were common.
These tapes are located in northern Wisconsin, near Rhinelander. I will ship them. I will also ship them internationally. If you are located in IL MN IA WI ND or SD, Speedee Delivery is very cheap and runs about 1/3 of the cost of parcel post or FedEx Ground. Otherwise, a trip up here to God’s County to pick them up is fine.
I am asking $100 OBO for the lot plus actual shipping.
