This is an incredible find: A complete Kenwood TS-830S station, including the TS-830S transceiver, VFO-230 digital remote VFO, AT-230 antenna tuner, SP-230 Communications Speaker, MC-50 desk microphone, and even the Phone Patch (which I believe is unused.) All original boxes and manuals included. I am the second owner. Original receipts from AES are even included for some of the pieces. Everything is working perfectly. The rig has a factory narrow CW filter installed. Happy to demo the rig on the air, phone or CW or both. I used this rig to win many, many contests all through the 1990's before switching to an FT-1000MP. Would prefer to sell the entire station all together to someone who has been waiting for a special opportunity like this.
I hate to part with this truly wonderful rig, but my XYL is forcing me to create some room in the house. Make me a reasonable offer and it's yours.
UPDATE: Several folks have expressed interest in the rig, and many are looking for some guidance on the price. So here is a note I sent to one of the interested parties:
Based on ebay auction history, a TS-830S in good condition with original boxes and manual like mine typically sells in the $500 to $675 range for just the transceiver.
The VFO usually sells around $300 although I see that one sold on April 7 for $630 on ebay.
The speaker typically seems to sell in the $150-175 range, the mic in the $50-70 range, and the phone patch typically sells for around $20-30.
That may help to establish the current market value of each of the components. I suppose if I were to list the entire station with a single price for all the components together, a reasonable asking price would probably be around $1,200. I am not in a huge hurry to sell it (truth be told, I hate to part with it), so I will probably wait a while to see if someone wanting the full station comes along before deciding to sell individual components, just because it would be easier logistically to deal with a single transaction if possible.
By the way, as far as I can recall, everything is in perfect or extremely close to perfect cosmetic condition. I don't recall seeing any scratches or marks on any of the components. I always kept a dust cover on the 830S when not using it. I will include the dust cover if I can find it. I assume buyers will probably want to see photos. I will have to unbox everything and set it all up this coming weekend so I can take photos.
