KB1VGA (Gerald H. Russell) - very suspicious!

A party claiming to be KB1VGA, Gerald H. Russel replied to my wanted for a Yaesu FTM-350AR. All appeared to be good, but he was insistent on paper payment, and not paypal. So far so good. Then some cock and bull story about a need to send to his "secretary" at a different address where he worked. Lookup on the addr was another house a few blocks from his FCC registerded addr. . . I refused the indirect, and said paper only if to his direct info . . he agreed, but then again, asked for the secondary address. Against my instincts, I sent it, but via Express Mail, restricted delivery (IE gotta produce ID in person to receive). Bounced off the address - they told the carrier they had never heard of him. I called and had them hold a the PO for pickup, and apparently he cannot remember that he agreed to direct sig, since supposedly someone else showed up, and was refused. Now I'm getting excuse after excuse, and again being asked to send to the third party/other address, which isn't happening! Fortunately, the USPS is returning my MO to me, so no loss!

While I can't say for certain that this is a scammer, either by way of hijacking his call (hotmail address makes me wonder . . ) or just very odd business practice by a HAM, it certainly stinks!

And the inability to remember terms that were agreed to via e-mail not 36 hours prior, plus a distinct Asian coloration to the latter e-mails makes me recommend using extreme caution if dealing with this individual!

Address was 68 Fargo,Springfield MA 01119, the same as another recent scam report! Requested payee was Sokha Mao, same chucklehead as on other scam reports . . .
