I bought this rig a while back with the intent to set up a vhf/uhf single sideband station. Well, fast forward a bit, and with a new baby due in a few months, it doesn't look like I'll be setting up the rest of the station components anytime soon. So, I've decided to sell this radio.
You can find out a lot of information about this radio here: http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/hammulti/820h.html
I have made a few SSB contacts on it, and it seems to work great in all modes. I've also made a number of FM contacts. Audio reports using the SM-6 microphone are all great - clear, crisp ariculation. I've also heard my wife (KI4WMN) on it when I've been out and about, and it does have very clear and articulate audio. Radio looks in great shape as well.
The mic is in good condition and even includes the original windscreen.
The Diamond MX-72N duplexer is in fair condition - it does work, but there is some obvious wear around where the 440 cable goes into the main body. It does work, but also shows some wear.
To be clear, this radio does also include the ability to encode CTCSS tones for working modern repeaters, unlike some other VHF/UHF radios of this vintage, which require an additional board. (It would require an additional board to decode those tones from an on-air source, however, although unless you're away from a computer where you can look the codes up, I've never missed that ability).
Power cord included as well.
Price for entire package: $620, includes shipping to 48 contiguous United States (payment via certified funds or paypal).
Includes IC-820H, SM-6 Mic, MX-72N duplexer, powercord, original manual.
