Kenwood TS-440S/AT SOLD Waiting Funds Transfer
I have a Kenwood TS-440S/AT HF
Radio with MC-60 mic for sale for
will be $25.00 UPS.
The radio transmits in CW mode at
about 70 or 80 watts. However,
when the radio is in SSB mode or AM
mode, the power out is very low and
is unresponsive to microphone
inputs. There apparently is some
problem with the mic amplifier or
modulator circuit. There is a mic
amp/processor, and an additional
amp before the audio goes to the
balanced modulator. Basically the
radio works on CW but has virtually
no power out on SSB.
The radio comes with the original
operator manual and Kenwood
shipping box. The electronic
version of the Kenwood Service
manual is also included.
The Kenwood TS-440S/AT is a HF
radio supporting SSB, CW, AM, FM
and AFSK modes with a built in auto
tuner. Coverage is 160 through 10
meters including the WARC bands
with 100 watts final amplifier
stage (40W AM). It requires 13.8
VDC at 20.5 amps.
Specifications: 160-10 meters; IF
Notch; CW Reverse; 100 Memories;
Dual Mode NB; XIT/RIT; SSB/CW;
Slope Tuning; Memory Keyer; Keypad
Entry and RF Speech Processor.
The radio comes with a Kenwood MC-
60A Desk Microphone. It has a
communication type dynamic
unidirectional moving coil type mic
element. It features UP-DOWN tuning
(on compatible Kenwood
transceivers) plus a built-in pre-
amp. There is a switch for PTT
(push to talk) and also a lock
feature. The mic impedance may be
set for 50K ohms or 500 ohms. The
frequency response is 150 Hz to 10
kHz (-6dB) with the Preamp off and
200 Hz to 7 kHz (-6 dB) with the
Preamp on. The heavy zinc die-cast
base provides extra stability. The
mic terminates to a standard 8 pin
mic plug. The preamp requires two
AA cells which are mounted through
the bottom of the base.
