FOR SALE: W8ZR EZ-Tuner - Sold!

Greetings. I am selling my much coveted and rare W8ZR EZ-Tuner. This was a project designed and produced by Jim Garland, W8ZR and was featured in QST. This is a top notch, very well built tuner using expensive high quality parts and can handle very high power. This was built by Terry WQ7A. He sold it to me a couple of years ago and I have used it every day since. I am now using resonant antennas, so I no longer have a real need for it. The interesting part of this tuner is the use of a Palstar wattmeter unit instead of the Bird/Coaxial Dynamics setup that Jim used. When I got the tuner, the metering was not compatible with the bird line section, so I installed the Palstar unit and it works excellent. The line section is mounted on the back and the meter control buttons work exactly the same as the Palstar unit. I never got around to adding the lettering for the buttons. These control the functionality of the meter which includes peak and peak hold. I have never seen one for sale, and because the board sets offered by Jim are no longer available, these are next to impossible to find. This is an automatic tuner, meaning that it has memories that allow the user to tune to a set frequency and memorize the settings. When QSY to another band, it will automatically go to the closest memory setting of that frequency. This does NOT auto tune in a search for best match like some tuners do. You have to program as you go but its as easy as tuning, and hit memory. Once you have set it up to your station needs, it consistently goes where you want it and will handle QRO legal limit all day long with a wide variety of load conditions. The relays are vacuum types, and the capacitors are 3000 volt Cardwell Johnson air variables. I am asking $1200.00 shipped anywhere in the 48 USA insured for full value, double boxed. Happy to answer your questions. Good luck, it won't last long. 73 de Billy N6YW
