Motorola S1056A 2-way test set VINTAGE

full description on evil bay search
for "Motorola S1056A"

Vintage Motorola 2-way radio
portable communications test set in
very good physical condition, with
cables and original manual in
excellent condition. This unit is
labeled as model #S0156A on the
main unit, and includes the
optional "peaking generator" and
"deviation meter" modules, yielding
an assembly part number of S1059A
per the owners manual.

The unit will run on D cell
batteries, but for the picture
above showing meter deflection I
powered it up with an external 12
VDC supply. I could not test any
other functions, you need a device
under test (2-way radio) connected
to the unit for that. Given the
overall excellent shape of the case
and the insides I would be
surprised if this unit has need for
more than a calibration, clean the
variable resistors, and maybe a re-
cap.

It is really impressive to see the
workmanship put into the case. The
pieces fit together perfectly and
the material covering the wood is
fitted very well and has stood the
test of time very well. The unit
is very solid and durable.

Other than light wear and some
easily cleaned soiling of the case,
the only real blemishes are on the
front of the unit near the meter,
there was apparently an adhesive
sticker to the right of the meter,
and also you can see someone
scratched in a 4 or 5 digit number
near the microphone connector. But
other than that it's in great shape
given the age, etc... I did some
minimal cleaning and it's very
presentable. Could use a final
cleaning, but nothing to speak of.
The insides were clean too. The
battery tray is intact and ready
for some D cells.

As for the interface cables, 3 of
them appear to be identical. I'm
not sure what models of radio they
work for, maybe it is stated in the
manual. The manual includes
schematics of all the boards and
also shows how to operate the unit.
Asking $150 plus $40 for shipping.
Paypal only.
