HF Antennas

FAN DIPOLE ***5 BAND COVERAGE*** 40m 20m 17m 10m 6

This FAN DIPOLE is cut for these bands:
40m, 20m, 17m, and 10m
It also has coverage on 6m

Wire for 17m could be cut to make the antenna resonant for 15m if you so choose.

I built this as part of a group build with members of my radio club a few years ago, but it has never been in use. SWR plots show just how good this antenna really is (at an elevation of 20 feet above ground). Would be great for fixed or portable operations.

Wire is non-kinking Toughcoat 'Silky' #13 AWG antenna wire from The Wireman. Spreaders are made from PVC pipe.

Specs for the wire:
Toughcoat 'Silky' 13 AWG, 19 strand 40% copper-clad steel (OD 0.0795") with tough, high density, low-gloss polyethylene (Nominal OD, 0.120" including 0.020" jacket. Designed for through-the-trees, sea coast, acid rain or other inclement atmospheric conditions. Our most rugged, longest-lived, stranded antenna wire for any purpose. Jacket has minimal effect on performance - less than that of a year's accumulation of oxidation product on bare wire, with less noise.Break strength 400lbs

Selected SWR values for 2.0:1 band values and band edges are shown for your reference.

Resonant frequencies and impedance will vary with mounting height and configuration. Usually the resonant point will move up a little with increased height, but how much will vary by band.

Fan dipoles work best installed relatively flat. The upper bands will need to be tweaked if installed as an inverted V. Donít forget to loop the coax over the PVC center support for strain relief! And a common-mode choke right below the feed point is always a good idea.

Item will be shipped as it appears in the photo, inside a box.

Asking $150 including shipping. Prefer payment by money order, bank check, or personal check. Personal checks will be held until they clear.
