SCAMS

SCAM ALERT!!!

Yesterday, May 21st, I received a reply from a "PATRICK B MONTGOMERY" with his name typed in caps in the subject line. I was immediately suspicious. This was in response to my want ad for an Icom IC-28H transceiver. His reply was : "Hi i have for sale Icom IC-28H 2 meter transceiver working
well in a splendid condition. Do you still need anyone ?
Thanks 73's"
Funny how he cuts and pastes his reply just like another posted here earlier. I busted him right off by reviewing the photo I requested only to find it quickly on a Google search. Bingo! This was too easy. However, I get the feeling that this it isn't even the same person. There seems to be a pattern with these scammer's using others identities to shield the real culprit. The call sign K6PBM is listed on QRZ but no email address is given. No problem... he creates the following email address: "patrickk6pbm@gmail.com". And then, he quotes a low price with the instruction to send to this paypal address: "Cookannette@yahoo.com".
Not only is this guy stupid, but very inept. Syntax, spelling, grammar and the almost immediate response to my want ad were defacto red flags that had scam emblazoned all over it. I hope this little prick gets nailed. Let's do our part to make sure these alpha hotels never succeed in ripping anyone off.
