Ten Tec Argonaut V

THIS RADIO IS NOW CONDITIONALLY SOLD SUBJECT TO RECONCILIATION OF FUNDS BETWEEN PAYPAL AND MY BANK.

Hard to find Ten Tec Argonaut V Model 516 DSP-based low power radio (S/N 03C10643) with TCXO, version 1.07 firmware upgrade and factory-installed gold-fin heat sink. Full RX coverage from 0.5 through 30 MHz. Comes with original owner’s manual and TT hand microphone. Additional info: http://www.tentecwiki.org/doku.php?id=516
I am the original and sole owner of this “collector quality” rig (never used for mobile ops). It was bought directly from Ten Tec after selling my old Argonaut 515 to a European collector. This rig has no marks, dents, scratches, blemishes or exposure to cigarette smoke. Since buying the radio about 11 years ago, it has performed flawlessly and allowed me to quickly work well over 100 DXCC entities on both 40 and 80M using only 12W of power output (CW and JT-65 modes). HOWEVER, in Oct 2014, the TX output level started to decay all the way down to less than 1W perhaps due to worn out power transistors and/or PIN diodes. Accordingly, the TX IS NOW UNSERVICEABLE AND NEEDS REPAIR while all other parts of the radio including the RX seem to be fine.
As I do not have the technical skills nor the test equipment or physical capability to repair the radio myself (I am disabled), I now have no choice but to place my beloved 516 up for sale or place it in a revered place in my shack (N.B., I have now ordered a new TT Eagle). I am thinking that the radio could be of interest to a serious collector of classic Ten Tec low power radios even though the TX is no longer operational. Alternatively, it could be of interest to a QRP enthusiast who has the tools and technical skills to fully restore the operation of the PA.
I am asking $230 US for the radio including insured surface delivery anywhere in Canada or the lower 48 States (no trades please). Payment may be made by Pay Pal. Additional information/photos is/are available via e-mail upon request. Thanks for reading!
