SOLD iCOM IC-22U

This rare IC-22U is in beautiful
cosmetic and operating condition.
The case has a few very minor
blemishes but the front

panel is essentially without
blemish. When I acquired it it
had been used as a remote base so
the radio and its front

panel had received very little
use. The radio was acquired
without the original preamplified
microphone but I have added a

Motorla base station microphone
with internal preamp that works
gerat.

One nice feature of this radio is
the ease with which you can
monitor a repeater input or
transmit and receive on the

reverse pair using a single front
panel toggle switch. The radio
works as it should but the volume
control is a little

scratchy when rotated but there
are no dead spots. I have added
a programable CTCSS encoder for
repeater access.

The iCOM IC-22U was the very
limited production rare sucessor
to the IC-22S which was Icom's
first sythesized mobile. It

retained the interference
resisitant helical resonator
receiver front end. Frequency
agility was improved by replacing

the 22 position channel selection
switch and diode matrix board
with direct readout numeric
thumbwheel frequency selection

switches and extending coverage
to the full 144-148 MHz band.
These radios were highly prized
for their ruggedness and

were frequently used in demanding
applications such as remote base
radios at RF congested tower
sites.

I am selling this vintage radio
as I need to downsize my
collection of vintage gear. The
radio includes power cables, a

desk microphone, and original
Icom operators manual with full
schemtatic.
