I just picked one up. It is not on their radio list. Has anyone tried it?

I am confused as there are FT-1D, FT-1DR, FT1XDR, and so forth. Are these essentially the same radios? I am way late to the party.

My FT1XD works with Chirp. It was on the list of radios when I looked a few weeks ago.

Is this programmable with Chirp via SD card, or cable, or both?

I used the Yaesu USB cable that came with the radio. I had to download a driver for the cable form the Yaesu site. Then the Chirp software worked fine. I haven't tried an SD card yet.

I used the yaesu provided cable & software to set up my new ft1xdr with about 150 channels of repeaters and other frequencies. Very straightforward. I did buy a SD card for the F1 and used it briefly with the F1 and in my pc with the programming package. Again very straightforward. I decided to not even use the SD card.
