In the last two days FT8 activity on 6M has dropped significantly. I thought that the good propagation must be gone. Today, with no activity, I called CQ. I got no answers. I checked PSK Reporter and found that several monitors in the Midwestern states copied my CQ from VA. I guess everyone has gone back to work to pay the bills  Grin

Many of us use DXMaps to check for 6M openings. DXMaps has shown very little activity so far today, and certainly none out here on the left coast. My portable antenna in an HOA has stayed on the ground.

In less than a month, FT8 has nearly killed off JT65 on 6M. This has made it impossible now to work the weak stations that could be decoded with JT65. I believe there are openings that might have been exploitable a month ago, but no longer are.

I'll have my Omniangle OA-50 active in days - tell me 6m is still there...

It's been my experience that the summer sporadic E season ends in mid-August. Last year, I saw there were openings in late August, but that was unusual. By September, it will all be over until the minor winter season starts in December.

No, Bret, you have missed most of the fun.  There might be a few openings left, but nothing like a couple of months ago.  You can usually get a little action from Thanksgiving to mid December.  Of course there are always freak openings, but you missed the majority of the wonderful E's season we just had.   But part of the fun of 6m is the weird unpredictable openings that come along.

6M FT8 has been there the past few days. From VA I've worked all around the Midwest, Canada, Mexico, and Cuba.

Note: In the past two hours I have heard 52 different 6M FT8 stations.

I worked Spain and France on August 9th from Connecticut with a 4 element Yagi at 20 feet.
This is a good weekend for meteor scatter, the Perseids Meteor Shower peaks on August the 12th, 2017.

I made a couple of MSK144 contacts a few nights ago.. it's pretty fast! It took a little bit of learning to get it set up right & see how people are using the mode but I got the hang of it quickly. I guess FSK441 is old hat now..

As near as I can tell, almost everyone that uses Meteor Scatter does so on MSK144.  I have been on MS since late Jan. and I have not seen any FS144 activity talked about on Ping Jockey.

There was a brief opening from OKlahoma to Ohio today, with really good signals, but not a lot of activity on.
