Hello folks.

I wanted to buy a Drake 2A so I posted a request on eHam and received a reply from a Chuck Grabowski (wa2onk@yahoo.com).  He said that he had a nice unit for $140.  As he had one good review on eHam, I sent him the PayPal funds in the 'paying for goods and services' category.  This means that PayPal will refund the money to you in the event of a problem (not as advertised), or otherwise.  This was several days ago, so I just sent him an email request for the tracking number whereupon an individual named Sidney Malave (Malave_34@msn.com) returned my payment in full.  When I questioned him he said that he was 'having problems with his PayPal account'.  I did not have to file a PayPal complaint.

I'm sorry that the deal fell through. If the unit is still available, is the deal able to be resurrected through another trusted pay method?

Yup!  That's why it always pays to send money 'for goods and services' thru PayPal.  The odd thing is that this guy refunded the money as soon as I asked for the tracking / shipping information.  I didn't have to file a PayPal complaint.  Maybe this guy was just running scared - dunno.  He had the nerve to say that he was having a problem with his PayPal account and that his name was really Chuck.  Ha!
