The Icom 7300 is about 1500 but I feel it is worth every penny.Have a great day and be safe out there.

Chuck, don't get ripped off. Look at the link before you buy, and I bet if you shopped a little harder, you might even beat that by a smidgen.

The IC-718 is a good starter radio, I have one myself. If you can afford better then go for it.

For what it's worth, R & L Electronics out of HAMilton Ohio has the IC-718 for $588 brand new after $50 rebate. I believe they have free shipping...
(You can find the 718 used for $475+ elsewhere)

HRO has the Kenwood TS-590SG on sale for $1,379.95 free shipping too... (I don't have this one, but it's close in price to the Icom IC-7300)

Disclaimer: I don't work for either company nor am I connected with them in anyway except I've been a long time customer of both...Be aware that the "Black Friday" sales will be starting soon, so y'all might get a better deal in a couple of weeks...

I hate to sound like an OF but in my opinion anyone who would do this mod is a blithering idiot.  There is simply no reason to modify an amateur transmitter to transmit out of band.  Besides being illegal to transmit on non amateur frequencies you run the risk of damaging the radio, how stupid is that??
