Hi all. I'm looking at buying the Icom 7300 and want to know do these radios go on sale around the holidays or not. I know there's a rebate until the end of the year and was just wondering. This will be my first Ham radio and I was just curious. My wife is buying me the  setup as an early Christmas gift and this really is her question. Thanks

Short answer: not likely IMHO

The "sale" is the rebate.  I doubt  you will see additional reductions in the next few months.

There may be additional savings once the IC-7610 is released but I doubt that since they are a couple of $k apart in price. The number of used 7300s will likely  go up a bit, and at a reduced price.

The radio is popular enough that Icom doesn't need to promote it beyond the generic year-end rebate program.  Considering the positive reviews and market demand you shouldn't wait much longer as they will go out-of-stock / backorder toward the end of the year.

That's exactly what I told the wife. I should be pick one up in a week or so. Thanks

What is a IC-3100?

As near as I can tell, it is some sort of Avionics headset amplifier.

Just wait about 5 years and the price will be just right.

Typo, I meant 7310 which is probably waiting for the fantastic worldwide 7300 sales to slow down

Hi

I think my answer will be, the longer you'll wait the cheaper it will become.
It will be at its cheapest when the succesor will be anounced or even when its succesor just starts getting distributed.

I do not know anything about its succesor or when its going to be distributed.
But with all other radios that I came across, that was the thing that happened.

If and when a 7310 comes out, it will be a completely new model. Given Icom's history to date of releasing radios, I don't think you can expect a 7310 for some time in the future.

I'll probably be ordering it next week. I'm ready to start this new adventure and hobby. I'm ready to take the General test and will be shortly so I'm ready for the fun to begin.
