I have a first generation 817.  The 60 M frequencies have changed since this unit came out as well as our ability to use CW on this band which requires additional adjustment to stay on frequency.  Is there a mod that will unlock 60M for the updated frequency needs?  I'm not interested in going out of band but if a full unlock is what is needed so be it.

Thanks in advance

Yaesu radios normally display the center frequency on 60 meters--5332, 5348, 5358.5, 5373, and 5405 kHz.  If you modify the radios you will need to use the typical amateur convention of using the suppressed carrier frequencies, which are 1.5 kHz below the center frequencies. 5330.5, 5346.5, 5357, 5371.5, and 5303.5 kHz.

You can verify the proper frequencies with a signal generator.  If you tune the signal generator to the center frequency you will hear a 1.5kHz audio tone.  If you tune the signal generator to a suppressed carrier frequency you will get "zero beat," a very low frequency that may not even be audible.
