I have a question I am hoping someone can answer.  Probably a Baofeng BF8-F8HP owner. I bought a Baofeng BF8-F8HP as a low cost entry into satellites to see if I like it before investing in better equipment. I am able to hear hams on AO85 and SO50.

I saw a Youtube video of a ham using a Baofeng UV-5R (the for-runner of my radio) to talk to satellites and when he finished transmitting the radio switched itself to the receive mode.  I have tried using “dual watch” with the priority channel being the one used for transmitting, but this prevents the op from changing the receive frequency for the Doppler effect without manually switching channels.  Other attempts have gone for naught.  I am a newcomer to vhf/uhf.  Does anyone know how to make this radio switch from the transmit channel to the receive channel after transmitting?

You have to program a group of memory channels like in this document for the SO-50 satellite:

Dual watch really doesn't help for satellite work. You will have change channels throughout the passes, since the receive frequencies change to compensate for Doppler.

Thank you for the reply, WD9EWK.  I was afraid of that.  I know all about the doppler effect and changing channels etc.  I was hoping that it would do what I saw a ham on Youtube doing with a Baofeng UV-5R.  Now you would think that a HT that only cost $62 would do that Grin  I guess I should be happy the case doesn't turn molten when I push the PTT.
