I own a Swan 260 Cygnet HF transceiver.  I noticed it doesn't have a volume control.  Could I just simply add a variable resistor, connecting it between one of the speaker wires?

Googling came up with this:
"The 260 has no AF gain control, but uses only a RF gain control for AF level. A common mod was to add a dual pot and install a AF gain control."
