Help!  I'm trying to track dowm my Father's Honduran call sign from 1960-1961.  We were living in Tegucigalpa, Honduras at the time and my father had a Honduran call.  My father (KA9KDE) died in 1993.

I remember well my Dad's shack (I was 9 years old at the time) and he generated quite a bit of activity.  Seems that everone wanted to talk to him when he called CQ with the Honduran call sign.  He sent out a lot of QSL cards to hams in the states.

My dad's name is Frank P. Oresteen.  The call would have started with HR.  Does anyone know of any old call books that listed amatures from Central America?

I have sent a couple of emails to Honduras asking for information but no luck so far.

Thanks!

It was most likely HR1FPO ... Honduran callsigns use the holder's three initials as the suffix. If not that, try HR1FOx where x is the first letter his mother's maiden (last) name.

I found an old QSL card of my Dad's.  It listed his call as HR1FO.

Mystery solved!  Thanks!

Tony -

I found your dad listed in the Fall 64 DX callbook. Would you be interested in a copy of the listing?

Please contact me directly at w3hf@arrl.net
